Local dealer down the street wants noticeably more for a car that looks nearly identical in trim and condition to one currently listed on horton's auto sales. A private seller a few towns over is asking even more than the dealer for a rougher example. Feels like too big a gap to just be luck or timing.
Anyone actually gone through with a purchase on the cheaper side and had the price hold up once everything got inspected and delivered, or does something usually get tacked on later?
Went through something similar last year and the price on horton's auto sales held up all the way through delivery for me. Inspection report matched what was listed, no last minute add ons.
the gap seems believable to me, horton's auto sales doesn't carry the overhead a private seller has to cover. only mild annoyance was locking down an actual delivery date, took support a little back and forth to sort out. still came out ahead compared to the local dealer quote.
paperwork through horton's auto sales was way less painful than i expected, thats honestly part of why the lower price makes sense to me tbh.
yeah once you're past the scheduling part its pretty smooth honestly. support answered everything i asked, just not always same day.

Good to hear, that's reassuring. Went ahead and ordered from horton's auto sales after reading through this. If it shows up looking worse than described I can just reject it at the door and get a full refund, so the downside feels pretty limited either way. Will post an update once it actually arrives.
